Come to the Table
The Bible is filled with powerful words that can inspire and strengthen us every day. The team at Bible Church International is excited to share occasional Devotions with you — short, encouraging reflections designed to guide and uplift you through every season of life.
Devotional: The Power of the Blood of Jesus
Scripture
“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”
— Hebrews 10:19–22 (NKJV)
Reflection
The Christian life is not built on our own goodness, perfect attendance, or best efforts. It rests entirely on the blood of Jesus Christ. His blood is not just a past event — it is a present, living reality that opens the door to God’s presence.
Before the cross, only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies once a year. When Jesus died, the temple veil tore from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51), forever opening the way. Now every believer can come boldly into the Father’s presence — not because we are worthy, but because Jesus is.
The blood also cleanses us. “The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). Notice the present tense: cleanses. His blood is actively at work right now, washing away shame, guilt, and the enemy’s accusations. You don’t have to clean yourself up before you come to God. Come just as you are.
Finally, the blood gives us victory. “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony” (Revelation 12:11). In prayer and spiritual warfare, we don’t fight for victory — we fight from victory. The cross has already defeated sin, death, and the devil. When guilt whispers you’re unworthy, when fear tries to silence your prayers, the blood speaks a better word: It is finished.
Communion Connection
As you remember the Lord’s Supper, the bread reminds you of His body broken to open the way. The cup reminds you of His blood poured out for your cleansing and victory. This is for you.
Application
Today, bring whatever burden you’re carrying to Jesus.
- Let go of guilt that keeps you distant.
- Let go of fear that silences your prayers.
- Come boldly to the throne of grace.
The blood is enough. The cross is enough. Jesus is enough.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the precious blood of Jesus. Because of His sacrifice, I can come boldly into Your presence. Cleanse my heart, silence every accusation of the enemy, and fill me with fresh confidence and victory today. Help me walk in the power of what You have already done. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
